Dry Needling

Very thin, sterile, single-use needles are inserted into specific points of the body, depending on the patient’s condition, and remain in place for a few minutes.

Dry Needling is a modern, specialized technique widely used in physiotherapy to relieve muscle pain, reduce tension, and improve musculoskeletal function.

During treatment, the physiotherapist inserts very thin, sterile, single-use needles into specific points of the body—known as trigger points. These are often areas of muscle tightness or irritated fibers that cause local pain or referred pain to other parts of the body.

The needles are placed with precision, based on the patient’s pathology, symptoms, and musculoskeletal assessment. They remain in the body for a few minutes, stimulating micro-responses in the muscle tissue that activate the body’s natural healing mechanisms.

Dry needling:

  • Reduces muscle spasm and stiffness
  • Relieves both chronic and acute pain
  • Improves blood flow and mobility
  • Significantly supports injury rehabilitation

The treatment is completely safe when performed by a trained and certified physiotherapist. Sensations vary from person to person—it may be fully tolerable or cause mild discomfort similar to a brief muscle twitch. This sensation is temporary and often indicates a therapeutic response.

Dry needling is applied as part of a comprehensive physiotherapy program and can be combined with other methods such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, or joint mobilization techniques, depending on the patient’s needs and goals.
